Kindred Family Focus provides:
Therapeutic Foster Care: Youth, ages birth through 21, with special needs who can benefit from support in a family setting. Needs specific to each person are assessed and matched to a foster home capable of meeting those special needs through an individualized care plan. Independent living programming is incorporated for youth ages 16+ who are transitioning into adulthood. Services are structured to prevent homelessness by focusing on the psychological, emotional and concrete coping skills needed for self-sufficiency. The program model includes: Trauma-sensitive care, careful selection of foster families, foster family respite, individual assessment, and collaboration with counties for reunification as appropriate, coordination, 24/7 on call services and crisis management, and specialized in-house clinical consultation.
Adoption Services: Kindred Family Focus provides adoption services to youth, age birth to 18 years, who are under the guardianship of the Commissioner. Kindred is part of the Public Private Adoption Initiative (PPAI) which is a program of the Minnesota Department of Human Services. Services include: Child Placement Services, Adoption Home Studies and Updates, Adoption Training and Education, Child-Specific Recruitment Activities, Post-Adoption Services, and Relative Adoption Home Studies.
