We at the Elderly Nutrition Program serve and deliver a meal to the elders and handicapped, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
We also provide the elders and handicapped with a casino card that allows $40 free play and a $10 meal once a month from the 7 Clans Casino of their choice.
Each December, we host a Christmas Party/Dinner for all Elders on the reservation. There is entertainment, a meal, candy bags, gift cards and lots of fun!
Currently, we have about 250 Elders who are on home-bound, which means they get their meal delivered every day. An additional 50-60 come in to eat daily.
We also attend the Minneapolis Urban Picnic to distribute casino cards to Elders who live in the metro area(s).
Meals are also served and delivered to the Elders and handicapped at the Ponemah site.
The Ponemah program delivers to about 32 home-bound and 40 to 50 Elders/Handicapped come in to eat.
Ponemah takes the Elders that need to run into Bemidji on Wednesdays. They also go to one of the 7 Clans Casinos on the first Saturday of every month.

The Bemidji Senior Center is located in beautiful downtown Bemidji at 216 Third Street NW.
Open Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM the building comes alive early as the Senior Creations Gift Shop opens for business and seniors come in for the various programs offered.
The Senior Center is a place where active adults can receive nutritious meals, socialization, exercise, tax assistance, a driver safety refresher course, informative lectures, creative activities, volunteer opportunities, and a sense of belonging.
Senior Nutrition Program: Lunch every day Monday – Friday at noon. You MUST call at least one day in advance to reserve your meal. Call between 9:00am – 1:00pm to make a reservation. Suggested contribution for seniors age 60+ is $6.00. People under age 60 is $10.00. Gift certificates and meal tickets are available at the site. Delivery to your home is also available (Meals on Wheels).
Tax Assistance: AARP Volunteer Tax Preparers assist income tax returns from February to April 15th on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Additionally, they go over property taxes or renter’s rebates from June through August on the second Monday of each month from 9:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m., no appointment is needed. DHHS provides direct consumer assistance regarding communication access; services to persons with combined hearing and vision loss; training and consultation; assistive technology demonstration labs; employment technology loans; mental health counseling; and telecommunications equipment.
The TED program provides telephone equipment to Minnesotans who have a hearing loss, speech disability or physical disability that limits their use of a standard telephone. The equipment is provided on a long term basis at no cost, as long as the individual/family meets the State’s requirements.
The Al-Anon Family Groups are a fellowship of relatives and friends of alcoholics who share their experience, strength, and hope, in order to solve their common problems. We believe alcoholism is a family illness, and that changed attitudes can aid recovery.

Elder and Vulnerable Adult Program
White Earth Elder/Vulnerable Adult program provides the following services:
- Develop programs to be sustainable and fully maximizing resources to meet the needs of Elder’s and Vulnerable Adults
- Provide Services such as case management, referrals, and other services upon request.
- Coordinate and process Travel to and from medical appointments and other appointments the elders may have.

The University of Minnesota’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-ED) team helps low income individuals and families make diet and lifestyle choices to improve their health and prevent obesity. Classes and other learning opportunities, technical assistance and training for staff, and support for your efforts to change practices and policies to create healthy environments.
Available 6 days a week (sometimes more). Able to transport 2 people in wheel chairs and a mobile person. Billable to Medical Assistance, as well as private, per mile, payers.
- Non-Emergency Medical Transport (NEMT): They help individuals get to medical appointments, often focusing on seniors or those with disabilities, potentially handling various needs like ambulatory or wheelchair transport, though you’d confirm details with them.
