Where help meets hope.
Justice North is a nonprofit civil law firm dedicated to the principle that equal access to justice is a basic human right, regardless of background or circumstances. We open the doors of the legal system to the most vulnerable in our community by providing critical legal assistance to preserve our clients’ safety, security, and stability.
What We Do.
Justice North provides representation, limited services, advice, or information to individuals with issues that fall outside of the criminal justice system. For people facing civil legal challenges such as the threat of losing their home, safety, health care, income, or even their families, navigating the justice system without a lawyer can be nearly impossible.

CHILD CARE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (CCAP)
Child care assistance is available to parents who are receiving assistance under the Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) and parents whose income is at or below 175% of the Federal Poverty guideline and are in an approved activity. It is important for parents to know their child is well-cared for while they are at work, looking for work, obtaining training or going to school in order to secure employment. Application is required to have eligibility determined. CCAP may not cover all child care costs. Parental amounts depend on the family’s income, the number of people in the family, and how much the child care provider charges. The goal is to assist the family to maintain employment and gain self-sufficiency.
CHILD SUPPORT
Every child needs financial and emotional support and every child has the right to support from both parents. Minnesota’s child support program benefits children by enforcing parental responsibility for child support.
Either parent of a child may apply or qualify for certain support services from the Child Support Unit. Depending on the circumstances associated with the case, there may be fees assessed for collection unless the applicant receives public assistance (Minnesota Family Investment Program, Medical Assistance, MinnesotaCare, or Childcare Assistance.)

This program believes that violence presents itself in many forms and that all forms have destructive effect on not only the victim but the family, community, reservation and society. Violence can affect all aspects of its victims and it can be deadly. The responsibility for the violence lies with the abuser, not the victim. We believe that violence is a learned behavior and as such can be unlearned.
We are here to help the cycle of violence. The Lech Lake Family Violence Program strives to do its best in supporting any person affected by family violence in a respectful, nonjudgmental manner, always seeking the empowerment of each individual in gaining freedom from violence and abuse.
