CHILD CARE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (CCAP)
Child care assistance is available to parents who are receiving assistance under the Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) and parents whose income is at or below 175% of the Federal Poverty guideline and are in an approved activity. It is important for parents to know their child is well-cared for while they are at work, looking for work, obtaining training or going to school in order to secure employment. Application is required to have eligibility determined. CCAP may not cover all child care costs. Parental amounts depend on the family’s income, the number of people in the family, and how much the child care provider charges. The goal is to assist the family to maintain employment and gain self-sufficiency.
CHILD SUPPORT
Every child needs financial and emotional support and every child has the right to support from both parents. Minnesota’s child support program benefits children by enforcing parental responsibility for child support.
Either parent of a child may apply or qualify for certain support services from the Child Support Unit. Depending on the circumstances associated with the case, there may be fees assessed for collection unless the applicant receives public assistance (Minnesota Family Investment Program, Medical Assistance, MinnesotaCare, or Childcare Assistance.)

Home Health Care – Administer a Class A License Medicare certified home health care program.
WIC – Women, Infants, & Children – Nutrition and breast feeding education program.
Immunization Clinic – Immunizations are available for infants, children, and adults.
Maternal and Child Health Family Home Visiting – Visits to pregnant women, infants and children for assessment, education, support and referral for community resources.
Child & Teen Checkups – Child and Teen Checkups and follow-up for children 0-21 years who are eligible for Medical Assistance.
Car Seat Education – Child passenger Safety Seat Technicians instruct on proper use of and assist with installation of car seats for infants and children.
PrimeWest – A Medicaid-managed health plan serving 13 rural counties in Minnesota. The plan was created to respond to the specific needs of their low-income residents.
Public Health Preparedness – Planning with community partners for coordinated emergency response to natural and man-made disasters.

At Happy Dancing Turtle, S.O.I.L.s is what we do. It means the practice and promotion of Sustainability; Outreach to our Minnesota community; the Innovation to develop meaningful programs and spur local entrepreneurship; Learning/Sharing by offering workshops, conferences, and classes; and providing Leadership and fostering champions in our communities.
Eco-Camp: Teaches sustainability, environmental responsibility, and health eating habits through games, field trips, and other activities. Four age groups: (1-2, 3-4, 5-6). Four sessions during the summer, call for times.
Back to Basics: A daylong event with a focus on environmental stewardship, eating healthy, living sustainably and fun. Usually the last week in January, visit website for details.
Garden Tours: Demonstration site of resilient living, organic gardening, health eating and lots of fun. Please call to set up a tour.
Inter-County Community Council is a non-profit, community action agency that serves Red Lake, Pennington, East Polk and Clearwater Counties. Through varied and multiple programs, Inter-County Community Council helps people to build a better Minnesota. Recreation: Camping, lodging, hiking trails, volleyball court, playground, picnic shelter, winter warming house, swimming beach, wheelchair accessible pier fishing, canoe access.
Shelter Space: Space available for reservations: Daily use dining hall for up to 120 people and a picnic shelter.
Programs include Leech Lake Head Start, Early Head Start, Child Care Services, Leech Lake Child Care Aware Baseline, and MN Tribal Resources for Early Childhood Care (MN TREC). Services are available to ages 6 weeks through 5 years.
Mahube-Otwa provides services for low income and elderly persons living in Mahnomen, Hubbard, Becker, Otter Tail and Wadena counties.

A Native American Indian organization, committed to community-centered holistic care for all pregnant and birthing mothers, and their families. Services are delivered by knowledgeable, respectful and compassionate caregivers while honoring the wisdom that exists in all cultures for the celebration of birth. Mewinzha is a non-profit organization created to promote healthy birthing practices by working with: doulas and breastfeeding coaches to empower women during pregnancy, labor, delivery and breastfeeding. The Area Learning Center provides a rigorous curriculum that demands a high level of engagement in academics, positive behaviors, exemplary attendance, social skill building and teamwork, which allows hands-on, project-based, community service projects to connect to real world learning. The MN Graduation Standards are embedded in the curriculum. Students receive instruction in a variety of ways and settings.
- Individualized Instruction: CLPs (Continual Learning Plans) are tailored to meet the student’s academic needs and interests.
- Intensives: Focus on a particular topic covering all academic disciplines for a short, intensive amount of time with a variety of fieldwork in different core classes.
- Adventure/Fitness: Innovative Physical Education Curriculum that focuses on fitness, wellness, and nutrition.
- In-Depth Investigation: Interesting, purposeful, engaging investigation of compelling topics. Reading and writing activities are embedded throughout the board.
- Independent Study: Students many take advantage of a wide spectrum of classes at the ALC by enrolling Dual-Enrolled or Full-Time. This program also offeres Teen Parenting Classes

Our name has changed and our mission has broadened. Today, MN ADOPT is the only non-placing agency in the state of Minnesota that provides programs and services to fully support adoptive, kinship and foster families and their children.

MN ADOPT (formerly know as Minnesota Adoption Resource Network or MARN) was founded in 1980 by a group of adoptive and foster parents. Their mission was focused on advocating for the rights of every child to ensure they find a permanent and nurturing family.

The risk factors are complex and interrelated, meriting a holistic and integrated approach to recognizing, supporting and regenerating the protective factors, values and norms, implicit in traditional Anishinaabe Worldview.

Our mission to change the course of children’s lives by stabilizing families and strengthening mental health is woven into everything we do. Our goal is to help youth and families achieve and maintain safety, permanency, and well-being. We provide a continuum of services to help youth and families recover, rehabilitate, and reintegrate to live happier, healthier lives.
Nexus-Kindred Family Healing provides:
Foster Care: for youth with unique needs, ages birth through 21, who can benefit from support with a family setting. Individualized support plans for youth. Careful assessment of youths’ needs to match with a qualified foster home. Assessment of youth’s needs and strengths using the CANS assessment tool- Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths. Special care for youth with complex medical conditions that might otherwise require hospitalization or institutional care. Support services to youth ages 14 and older who are transitioning to independent living.
Adoption Services: Nexus-Kindred Family Healing is designated by the Minnesota Department of Human Services to license adoptive homes and place youth who are under state or tribal guardianship for the purpose of adoption. Services provided free of charge include: Adoption Training and Education, Adoption Home Studies and Updates, Relative Adoption Services, Child-specific Recruitment, Child Placement Services, and Post-Adoption Services.
The Pillager Family Center currently serves as a “go-to” for community members. With two offices we serve as the liaison between Cass County and the Pillager School District. Our main office houses our Food Shelf and many County forms and references a community member might need. In addition we offer teleconference video services with County workers, WIC Clinics, Food Shelf, MAC and NAPS distribution, and serve as an information spot. Our satellite office is adjacent to the Pillager Elementary School. From here we coordinate the Little Huskies Daycare, Early Childhood Family Education programs, ECSE, Pre-school, and Head Start. Because we are so centrally located in two different locations, we are able to meet our communities needs in ways other entities may not.
