Nexus-Kindred Family Healing provides:
Foster Care: for youth with unique needs, ages birth through 21, who can benefit from support with a family setting. Individualized support plans for youth. Careful assessment of youths’ needs to match with a qualified foster home. Assessment of youth’s needs and strengths using the CANS assessment tool- Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths. Special care for youth with complex medical conditions that might otherwise require hospitalization or institutional care. Support services to youth ages 14 and older who are transitioning to independent living.
Adoption Services: Nexus-Kindred Family Healing is designated by the Minnesota Department of Human Services to license adoptive homes and place youth who are under state or tribal guardianship for the purpose of adoption. Services provided free of charge include: Adoption Training and Education, Adoption Home Studies and Updates, Relative Adoption Services, Child-specific Recruitment, Child Placement Services, and Post-Adoption Services.

The Take A Kid Fishing Mission:
To introduce young people to the outdoors through fishing in a safe, fun, educational and mentored atmosphere. Providing the resources and opportunities so that area youth and families may experience firsthand and realize the healthy, fun and rewarding sport of fishing.
Operated by non-profit, Canvas Health, Crisis Text Line allows users to communicate with trained counselors via confidential text messaging. Counselors help people of all ages and walks of life get to an emotionally and physically safe place and then direct them to community resources that can provide longer-term support. They serve many counties and all Tribal Nations located in Minnesota. Text “MN” to 741741.

Orthopaedics
We’ve treated orthopaedic conditions since the founding of our first hospital in 1922. With a large full-time staff of pediatric orthopaedic surgeons in the United States, as well as a comprehensive team of physical, occupational, speech and other therapists, we are able to provide customized care to each child.
Burn care
Since first treating burn survivors in the 1960s, we’ve pioneered some of the most significant advancements in burn care. We provide advanced care for burn injuries and related scarring, along with physical rehabilitation and emotional support.
Spinal cord injury
We were the first health care system in the country to develop spinal cord injury rehabilitation centers designed specifically for children. Our groundbreaking research has led to innovative treatment techniques, providing care that helps children lead a full, active and healthy life.
Cleft lip and palate
Our cleft lip and palate reconstruction program gives kids a reason to smile. Each treatment plan is crafted uniquely for the child by a team of experts working together to improve a child’s eating, breathing, communication, self-esteem and appearance.
NWICDC is located in Bemidji, MN and provides services to more than 1,000 people and families annually. We prioritize the 60-mile radius, which includes the Red Lake Nation, White Earth Nation, the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe and the administrative headquarters of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe. This region continuously ranks the lowest in economic and social outcome indicators in Minnesota, and . The risk factors are complex and interrelated, meriting a holistic and integrated approach to recognizing, supporting and regenerating the protective factors, values and norms, implicit in traditional Anishinaabe Worldview.

Our name has changed and our mission has broadened. Today, MN ADOPT is the only non-placing agency in the state of Minnesota that provides programs and services to fully support adoptive, kinship and foster families and their children.
Our History
MN ADOPT (formerly know as Minnesota Adoption Resource Network or MARN) was founded in 1980 by a group of adoptive and foster parents. Their mission was focused on advocating for the rights of every child to ensure they find a permanent and nurturing family.

Exhibits are hands-on and illustrate aspects of science. Off-site demonstrations and programs are also possible. HSC’s 7500 square foot exhibit floor features over 50 engaging and hands-on exhibits including live animals. The Science Store features unique science and nature-oriented gifts, books, and toys. The Area Learning Center provides a rigorous curriculum that demands a high level of engagement in academics, positive behaviors, exemplary attendance, social skill building and teamwork, which allows hands-on, project-based, community service projects to connect to real world learning. The MN Graduation Standards are embedded in the curriculum. Students receive instruction in a variety of ways and settings.
- Individualized Instruction: CLPs (Continual Learning Plans) are tailored to meet the student’s academic needs and interests.
- Intensives: Focus on a particular topic covering all academic disciplines for a short, intensive amount of time with a variety of fieldwork in different core classes.
- Adventure/Fitness: Innovative Physical Education Curriculum that focuses on fitness, wellness, and nutrition.
- In-Depth Investigation: Interesting, purposeful, engaging investigation of compelling topics. Reading and writing activities are embedded throughout the board.
- Independent Study: Students many take advantage of a wide spectrum of classes at the ALC by enrolling Dual-Enrolled or Full-Time. This program also offeres Teen Parenting Classes

Residential treatment and services for 11-18 year old adjudicated youth. Referral from Law Enforcement and County Systems.
The Northwestern Minnesota Juvenile Center exists to provide positive intervention within the Juvenile Justice System for juveniles, family units, and communities. The Center offers legitimate attentive pathways to adulthood for juveniles through equal access to services that are least intrusive, co-educational, culturally sensitive and consistent with the highest professional standards.
Located on 80 acres of beautifully wooded land on the outskirts of Bemidji, NMJC has been serving greater Minnesota since 1973. The Center is licensed through the MN Department of Corrections and incorporates three distinct units within the building as well as community based satellite homes. The Non-Secure Detention Unit, Residential Treatment Unit, and Satellite Homes are Title IV-E eligible.
A neutral, child friendly site for conflict free custody exchanges and documented supervised visitation by two staff. All custodial parties must complete an intake before service will be scheduled. Court orders not mandatory. Services are provided on a sliding fee basis. Services are available Monday – Friday and every other weekend depending on availability.
A Native American Indian organization, committed to community-centered holistic care for all pregnant and birthing mothers, and their families. Services are delivered by knowledgeable, respectful and compassionate caregivers while honoring the wisdom that exists in all cultures for the celebration of birth. Mewinzha is a non-profit organization created to promote healthy birthing practices by working with: doulas and breastfeeding coaches to empower women during pregnancy, labor, delivery and breastfeeding. Provide support and educational services for pregnant women and their families. Reclaiming and promoting healthy birth practices for Aniishinaabe people.
Registered nurses that offer support to families through education, assessment, skilled nursing, referral networking, and incentives.
We believe in You ~ is the foundation of our home visiting program for any pregnant woman, mother or caregiver of children up to the age of 3. Dads are encouraged to participate and are welcomed. We encourage self development and support positive decision making skills for the strengthening of our families and their futures.
We believe in You ~ when life is going well, complicated or the worst you feel it can be. We are here to help you see the strength you have within. This program supports the Native American families that are IHS eligible as well.
